The current Ottawa Senators is the second NHL franchise to use the ‘Senators’ name. The original Senators team were founded in 1883 and played until 1934 winning many  Stanley Cup® Championships during that time. The League awarded a new franchise to Ottawa in 1990.  The Sens played their first game on October 8, 1992​.  The date of their first game has been used to create the thread counts (width of lines) within the weave of this original tartan design:10-08-19-92.
